નાનપણમાં જયારે બહાર ભણવા કે નોકરી કરવા ગયેલ ભાઈ કે બહેન વિશે સમાચાર આવતા ત્યારે ઘરનાં વડીલો હળવાશથી ટકોર કરતા કે ‘પોપટ ભૂખ્યો નથી, પોપટ તરસ્યો નથી’ ત્યારે આખી વાતનો સંદર્ભ ખબર ન પડતી. દાદી પાસેથી વાર્તા સાંભળતી વખતે વચ્ચે આવતા જોડકણાં ગોખાઈ જતા અને એમની સાથે સાથે જોરજોરથી લલકારતા, એ યાદી મનમાં એટલી ઊંડી કોતરાયેલી છે કે, જયારે પણ યાદ કરીએ ત્યારે તરત જ જાણે એ સમયમાં જીવતા હોઈએ એટલા ઉલ્લાસ અને પ્રસન્નતાથી મન ભરાઈ જાય. આપનાં બાળકોને પણ એ સોનેરી યાદગીરી આપવા આ વાર્તા જરૂરથી કહી સંભળાવશો.

ખેડૂત ખેતરમાં બીજ રોપી દીધા બાદ, તે બીજનું કુંપળમાં પરિવર્તિત થવું માત્ર જોઈ કે નોંધી જ શકે છે. પરંતુ, બીજનું કુંપળ બનવું એ કેવું અનુભવાય એ તો માત્રને માત્ર ધરતી જ જાણે છે. વસુંધરાને જો વાચા ફૂટે તો એ ચોક્કસ કહે કે, રોપાયેલું બીજ ઉગી નીકળવાનાં પૂરજોર તલસાટ સાથે સૂર્ય-કિરણો, ધરતીનું સત્વ અને હવાનાં સ્પર્શે ક્ષણે ક્ષણે અંકુરિત થવા તરફ આગળ વધે ત્યારે ધારીણી ધરાને પોતાનો કણે કણ સજીવ થતો લાગે. સતત નિર્જીવ લાગતી રેણુ, ત્યારે જડમાં પણ ચેતનાનો સંચાર થતો અનુભવે એ કુદરતની જ કરામત છે.

મનુષ્ય કુદરતનું શ્રેષ્ઠત્તમ સર્જન છે એમ માનીએ ત્યારે આપોઆપ જ એ સ્વીકારીએ છીએ કે, તેનામાં પણ ઈશ્વરીય અંશ છે. પ્રકૃતિએ માણસને આ દિવ્યતા આપતા પહેલાં એ સ્ત્રી છે કે પુરુષ એવો કોઈ પક્ષપાત કર્યો નથી કેમકે, વ્યક્તિનું સ્ત્રી કે પુરુષ હોવું એ તેનાં કાર્યની વહેંચણીનો એક ભાગ માત્ર છે એમ મારું માનવું છે. એટલે કે બીજા સજીવોની માફક જ આપણે પણ કોઈ નિશ્ચિત કામ કરવા માટે જ અહીં છીએ. તો, નૈસર્ગિક કાર્યોની પૂર્તિ માટેનાં સાધનો વચ્ચે કોઈ સ્પર્ધા કે સરખામણી શક્ય છે ખરી? આપનો જવાબ મને લખશો જરૂર.

We mostly judge someone’s life considering single aspect of his/her life. Life is a reflection of the choices we make. Human life is a complete mixture of achievements and privation. We can’t alter any of it by any means, until the person wants to change it.
