13. What’s the basis of Morality?
Morality is the code of conduct that directs interactions between people and groups. Virtues like integrity, courage, kindness etc. possessed by the “Good” people are accepted as morals across the cultures. Sometimes, the outcomes of different actions decide if those actions are ‘right’ or ‘wrong’, i.e. Moral or Immoral. Human morality is built on a small number of inherent principles that evolved as reforms. Personal views, religion, and culture influence these perspectives, building different moral systems gradually. Depending upon the consciousness – individual or of the society, divine command also has been sanctioned as the base of morality. In short, whatever suffices the human need to live in a world governed by principles of right and wrong can serve as the foundation of MORALITY!
